I served with the Royal Welch Fusiliers now known as the Royal Welsh for a number years.
After leaving the army I have been involved in education and training working for various company's such the Prince's Trust delivering the team programme to 18 - 24 year olds across North Wales, Prospects For Young People looking after behavioural and emotional children in the care system. Wilderness Expertise as Manager looking after a team of Instructors delivering personal development programmes in schools and Colleges across the North West and also Manchester City Football Club working with their youth academy.
Started working for MPCT in 2007 where I worked in our Wrexham College until 2013 as an Instructor. In January 2015 I returned to MPCT after realising the 'grass was not as green on the other side' and went over to Birmingham to open our first of our Midlands Colleges as Lead Instructor. In April 2015 I then moved over to Wolverhampton to open our second College at Newhampton Arts Centre. In June 2016 I become Centre Manager MPCT Dudley this being our third college to open in the Midlands.
August 2016, I was promoted to the role of Area Operations Manager - West Midlands, looking after the operations of all of our Colleges in the West Midlands.
I am now a Liaison Manager based in the midlands.
Ray joined the Army as an Infantry Soldier in the Royal Regiment of Wales in September 1976. Ray completed 34 years of service in the army achieving the Rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 and during his service he served on various operational tours around the world and also as a Permanent Staff Instructor with the Territorial Army in Wales. In January 1998 he took over the role as the Office Manager of the Army Careers Information Office in Newport. After spending 4 years at Newport he was selected to take over the running of the Armed Forces Careers Office in Bristol.
In January 2005 Ray was posted to the Regional Recruiting Headquarters in Brecon as the RSM and Operations Warrant Officer for Wales. In July 2010 he retired from the Army and and took up position as a Prison Custody Officer in HMP PARC before moving to the Education, Training and Employment Department.
Ian originally joined the RAOC in 1979, and transferred to the Army Physical Training Corps (APTC) now RAPTC in 1985. Tours of duty have included Germany, Northern Ireland (2 x 2 year tours), Hong Kong, Kenya, Falkland Islands and several UK tours. Experience working in both Phase 1 and 2 training establishments and Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Combined Cadet Force (CCF) units. Promoted up through the ranks and commissioned in 2000. Commissioned posts include Officer Commanding, Adventure Training Centre, Brac, Croatia, Master at Arms, Army Technical Foundation College and Officer Commanding, 40 Cadet Training Team.
Sports played at representative level: Rugby union, swimming, water-polo, basketball, athletics and volleyball. Conducted Adventure training expeditions in climbing and sub aqua diving in Egypt, Spain, Crete, Mexico, Gibraltar, Scotland and Cyprus. Resigned his commission in 2006, to take up a post as a Military Contracts Officer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) delivering Physical and Adventurous Training, Leadership and Personal Development training to potential UAE Officer Cadets.
